Typically, I’m not a big online shopper. I like to see things in person and try them on before I commit to a purchase. But, I needed a few new pieces as the weather warms up, so I grabbed a few things from Aerie and they were all major wins!! I shared these pieces on our Instagram Stories on April 27, but forgot to link everything and thought this might be easier to follow than my maniacal explanations that I tried to spit out before I was interrupted by the kids…again.
Aerie Real Sunny Wireless Lightly Lined Bra
This bra might be my most favorite bra I’ve ever owned. Finding the right bra since retiring from my nursing career has been difficult. I have spent lots of money on nice bras and I’ve gotten cheap ones at Target and I haven’t noticed a difference in any of them. I ordered this bra blindly online about two months ago and I love it so much, I had to get another one while they’re still on sale. Like, I was shocked how much I could love a bra I ordered online without trying on.
It is wireless, which is key to the comfort. I never realized how uncomfortable a wire bra was until I tried one without. It has a wider band in the back to smooth any bulges. It has all the comfort of a sports bra, but without the uniboob look. This bra really has been perfect for these days at home. A sports bra is more comfortable (until the end of the day when the racerback pinches my shoulders), but it definitely feels more sloppy. When I’m feeling like I want to be more “dressed up” in regular clothes, this bra is the sweet spot between comfort because we’re just at home and feeling like I’m in “normal” clothes.
Basically, I could go on and on about my love for this bra, but I’ll stop there. The only down side is it pulls over your head like a sports bra, which is tricky getting out of the shower with my hair wrapped in a towel, but that’s an easy obstacle to overcome because it’s that amazing.
It’s 40% off right now, making it $27 and the fit is true to size. Shipping is slower than expected, but what can you do?
Aerie Play Real Me High Waisted
Val over at Lovely Lucky Life has been singing the praises of these leggings for a long time and I finally bit the bullet. These are very similar to the Lululemon Align leggings, but for a fraction of the price.
There isn’t much compression, so if that’s what you’re looking for, these aren’t for you. They are high waisted and 7/8 length, which is legging perfection for me. These are definitely more lounge around the house vs. high impact workout kind of leggings. My only complaint is that they don’t hold their shape by the end of the day as well as Lululemon, but for the price, you can’t beat them!
They fit true to size. I am in a large and they are currently on sale for $24.
Boyfriend Distressed Oversized T-Shirt
I have the hardest time finding short sleeved shirts that go with leggings. For some reason, long sleeved shirts that cover your butt are way easier to find than short sleeved. This shirt is perfect for leggings and was really great in those in between Spring days when the weather can’t decide if it’s hot or cold. California seems to have moved directly into full blown Summer and it still works with shorts too.
I love the slightly distressed detail and the array of colors. I’m wearing the color Relic in the photo, but I also own it in a coral color that isn’t available anymore. It fits oversized, so keep that in mind for sizing. I’m wearing a medium and have enough room to tie it at the bottom. This tee is also on sale right now for $15.
Denim Boyfriend Short
I grabbed this Madewell tank during the Nordstrom sale. It’s no longer on sale in this color, but this striped one is. I’m going on my second Summer with these rose gold Birks. They are a pricey investment, but they hold up really well and offer my old lady feet all the support they need! Flat flip flops make my feet hurt so bad now!
There is nothing more uncomfortable to me than tight denim shorts, and after all of my quarantine stress eating, all of my shorts are tight. I love that these are roomy and have a drawstring. The denim is super soft and they have a 5″ inseam, which makes them the perfect mom short.
I’ll be honest and say I feel a little frumpy and self conscious in them, but I think that’s also reflective of how I’m feeling in my own skin right now. All bodies are good bodies and all of that body positivity stuff, but I also think it’s okay to admit that you aren’t comfortable in your own skin and are taking healthy, realistic steps to course correct. For me right now, it means committing to running a few times a week and being more mindful of my late night snacking.
But in the mean time, these shorts are perfect! I’m in a large and these are also on sale for $24!
I was a die hard American Eagle shopper before having kids. After, I arbitrarily decided moms weren’t allowed to shop there, but I’m really glad I’ve returned to my roots! I really love the casual, athleisure style of Aerie because it really seems to fit this phase of my life right now. Everything fits really true to size, and I love the thorough reviews and pictures on each product page. It really makes shopping online much easier.
