Isla is a prolific painter at school. The easel is definitely one of her favorite things and we have the paintings to prove it. The problem is we didn’t have anywhere to store it, so I came up with a simple, quick DIY artwork display board.
I’ve seen a few pictures of people using clipboards to easily change out paintings. I liked the idea of being able to easily switch them out, but one clipboard didn’t seem like enough. I was making the growth chart about this same time and I knew I wanted both of these things to be on the same gallery wall, which got me thinking to make an artwork display board the same length as the growth chart to give the wall some balance.
black frames // organizer (Home Goods) // white frame (Home Goods)
I got a board that was equal in length to the growth chart and used the same Minwax dark walnut stain. Then I found these clips and spaced them evenly along the board. AJ put the screw in through the hole of the clip so that they were semi hidden.
I think this artwork display adds balance to the gallery wall and brings another really functional element to our mudroom area. Isla is so proud to see all of her artwork displayed and every day as I’m wrestling Nolan into his shoes she tells me all about each picture.
Want to see what the rest of the space looks like?! See how I DIY’d the growth chart. Check out the built in mudroom on the opposite wall here.
