It has been a summer for parties and celebrations in my family and I have been loving all these chances to play event planner. My sister in law is expecting her first baby (and my first nephew/niece!) and I was so excited to plan a baby shower!
This shower is event two of four in the lineup (Isla’s birthday is just around the corner as well as my other sister in law’s wedding) and was hot on the heels of the bridal shower we just had. Easy had to be the name of the game and while I love to decorate and plan a menu myself, I reached out to some experts for help to save my sanity. And I have to say, we’ve connected with some talented people over this last year and I was in the best of hands.
Food
Right away, I knew I wanted to do a bagel bar because the mama to be loves a good bagel. Who doesn’t, right? When I started brainstorming all the different toppings I wanted to include, I knew I wanted a selection of fresh produce. I reached out to Nugget Markets to help create the bagel bar and that was hands down the smartest choice I made for this whole shower!
Nugget is a local grocery chain that is committed to providing an extensive selection of quality products, exceptional service and lower prices than conventional grocery stores. If you have a Nugget near you, get yourself there ASAP. Their wine selection alone is 🙌🏼!
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Nugget Market. From beginning to end, the service was impeccable, the presentation of the food was gorgeous and the quality was unbelievable. Their new Gourmet To Go service makes hosting beyond easy. I went and picked everything (literally everything- coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice for mimosas too!) up and just stuck it on the table. Nugget made me look like a genius. I’m all about working smarter, not harder!
The shower was mid-morning, which seemed early for cake so we opted for a few pastries instead. I made some coffee cake muffins from Damn Delicious, and some Oreo pudding cookies. My other sister in law made her world famous chocolate chip cookies and some scones to round it out. It was the perfect selection of sweet treats!

Decor
The amazing bagel bar required an amazing display, so I envisioned this bagel board as a take on all the donut boards I’ve been seeing. It was super easy to make and elevated the bagel bar for sure! And see those amazing balloons?! Ready Set Confetti made these amazing balloon garlands. If you are looking for amazing balloon decor in the Sacramento area, they are your gals. They are the sweetest and easiest to work with and they come and install everything!
I restyled the same pallet photo wall from the bridal shower. Another balloon garland and the baby’s name in this amazing sign from The Knotty Moms completed the simple look. I have to tell you, I was so impressed with this sign! There are so many different shops making these now and I was expecting something flimsy and unfinished. I couldn’t have been more wrong! The sign is such good quality that it will make the perfect keepsake in the nursery! And you know we love a mama run business!
We did a few simple centerpieces of white hydrangeas and eucalyptus for the tables.
Simple was the name of the game, so we went with the classic look of Chinet‘s Cut Crystal plates, utensils and wine glasses. Chinet even offers insulated coffee cups, which were perfect for the coffee bar we set up. The classic look makes them perfect for any event!
Favors & Extras
For favors, we did cones of caramel corn (made by my mother in law!). The “Ready to Pop” labels (I used these ones), as well as the invitations, were designed by Brittany Garner Design .
Probably my favorite thing at the shower was the mock up of what baby Logan will look like. I used a “what will my baby look like” app that took pictures of mom and dad to come up with this rendering of what their offspring will look like. It took a few different apps to find one that generated even a remote possibility (I’m 99% most of them just pulled random baby pictures off the Internet). We all had a good laugh and can’t wait to see if the prediction was correct!
Overall, the shower was a success! The weather was perfect to be outside while we enjoyed the company of friends and family coming together to celebrate the new baby! Logan, you are already so loved and we cannot wait to meet you!!
