Favorite Pantry Organization Ideas

We moved over the summer and our pantry space was reduced by 75%––pantry organization was always fun when I had a huge, walk in pantry so I really struggled with how to make the new small space work. It has turned out to be a great way to streamline and I always know what I have––much different than when things would disappear in to the abyss in our old pantry.

Size is relative: Do What Works For You

Whether you have a small, big, or in-between pantry, below are some of my favorite products that make organization a breeze. I tried to stick to a similar color scheme to make the aesthetic feel cohesive but that being said, if your pantry is behind a door, who really cares if everything matches? It’s totally a personal preference!

Pantry Organization: must Have Products

These are all products I have bought myself, use, and love. When we downsized, we designated a few cabinets for food items so a few of the organizational products I used in my pantry before, work just as well in a kitchen cabinet.

Stackable Wine Bottle Holder

Our new, smaller pantry had a lot of unused space toward the top, a few of these wine bottle holders stacked on top of each other were the perfect thing to maximize the space.

I have a few containers in my pantry for all the miscellaneous items. No matter how hard I try to consolidate, there is always a few random things that need a home, so I throw them in these!

My favorite pantry hack to maximize vertical space are these under shelf baskets. They are perfect for bread, bagels, rolls or even to hold Ziplocs, saran wrap, and foil.

Clear Shelf/Drawer Organizers

So much of my day is taken up by kids demanding snacks. With these clear, plastic organizers I was able to put kid stacks on a kid-level shelf so they could help themselves. The 9×6 and 9×3 sizes are my favorite and perfect for pouches, granola bars, fruit leathers, or any other pre-packaged snack. This organization has also made school lunch making a breeze!

Cereal Storage Containers

A larger size for cereal and high-demand snacks (in our house, it’s Goldfish) fit perfectly in these airtight containers. It’s easy to see what needs to be restocked and the easy-pour top allows kids to get their own cereal in the morning, allowing you to sleep in! Win, win!

The best advice I ever got was to de-box everything that comes home from the grocery store and use containers like these. It has changed my life. We can clearly see what we have, what we’re almost out of it, and it gives the pantry a clean, organized feel.

Stackable Shelf

No matter the size of your pantry, examine how much vertical space you have. Stick a few of these stackable shelves wherever you see wasted space and you suddenly have double the room.

Lazy Susan

In my old pantry, there were dark corners where things would go to die in the abyss. Sticking a lazy Susan in those corners was the perfect remedy. Highly recommend for under sinks too!

13″ Tall Bin

This sturdy, plastic bin combines aesthetics with function. I use these to put extra kitchen back stock like paper towels, canned goods, condiments, and more in. I like to have things at the ready if we run out and these bins make it easy to store them.

The cost of the investment to organize a pantry can be high, I made it a point to buy most of these things over time as the upfront cost can be a lot. I did find that organization has helped shape my grocery list and so much money has been saved not buying a ton of extras that inevitably go to waste. That being said, every budget and space is different so take what will work for you and your family, and leave all the rest. At the end of the day, whether your pantry is large or small or in between, it’s all about how you maximize the space to make it work for your family.
