Hi Friends!
We’ve been trying to revive these for weeks now, but today is the day! I always feel like I’ve got plenty of time to write this and the next thing I know, it’s Friday and I missed the boat. We’re going to do our best to keep them going because we’ve heard from so many of you that you like reading these!
Mom Win of the Week:
I took both kids out to eat (at Blaze Pizza, so nothing too crazy) all by myself and no one died. And the only thing that got spilled was a cup of ice. Slowly but surely, things with these two is getting easier, which is making me braver to try things like this more often.
Mom Fail of the Week:
I cut all of Nolan’s curls off (Well, technically, I had them cut off.) and I was not ready for it. He has had two haircuts already and it’s grown so fast each time that I thought I’d be really smart (lazy) and get it cut shorter this time to avoid having to back again in a few weeks. Welp, it’s super short and the curls are gone and I’m sad to think it’s for good. And I’m not usually one to get emotional about this kind of stuff, but here I am. Don’t get me wrong, the cut looks super cute, but it’s no head of curls.
Currently….
Listening to:
The Slow Burn podcast- The first season talks about Watergate and season 2 talks about the Clinton/Lewinski scandal. I started with season 2 because I was more familiar with the topic and it sucked me in. I was a kid when this was all happening, so obviously I didn’t have full understanding of everything that happened, but hearing the timeline and all the other details is fascinating and the way they tell the story keeps your interest!
Watching:
90 Day Fiance, Before the 90 Days- if you love trashy reality TV, this is your dream come true. If you like TV that renews your faith in humanity and reminds you normal, smart people are out there…this probably isn’t your show. LOL! Not that these are bad people, but it takes a special kind of person to blindly believe someone they meet on an international karaoke app is their soulmate. It’s bananas and I can’t stop. Or pick my jaw up off the floor.
Reading:
1-2-3 Magic: 3 Step Discipline for Calm, Effective and Happy Parenting- I talked last week about how we’ve been having some trouble figuring out discipline that works for Nolan and this book was recommend to me several times. It’s working so far, but I made a few tweaks to work for us. This book was definitely written by an old white man who never changed his kids’ diapers, so take it with a gain of salt, but he’s got some good pointers. Buuuut, Nolan is already starting to test it, so I’m sure it won’t be long until we are on the hunt for the next strategy.
Wearing:
I bought these over the summer during the Nordstrom sale and I’ve been patiently waiting for it to cool down so I could wear them. They are so soft and fit so well. The perfect lounge pants!
I was skeptical of these hair ties, but after running with them, I’m a believer! No lines in your hair makes it so much easier to go longer between washes. That and my favorite dry shampoo of all time.
ICYMI:
Hope you had a great week and an even better weekend!
