MOM WIN OF THE WEEK
I shared a bit of my biggest mom win today on Instagram. I’d love to hear your thoughts over on the Gram!
We got hit with a stomach bug and while it certainly didn’t feel like a win, I’m finding some gratitude in it. I didn’t have one single meltdown. I am not a go with the flow kind of person, no matter how much I try to be. Historically, sickness and being thrown off a routine and having to relinquish control drives me crazy, which inevitably leads me to freaking out on everyone. I did have a slight moment when I took a glance around the house and it looked apocalyptic, but it was a blip instead of a full blown incident. And, we’ve gotten stomach bug checked off the list, so we have to be out of the cold and flu woods, right? Shhh, just lie to me.
MOM FAIL OF THE WEEK
We have really been dropping the ball with Nolan’s sensory work. We lost momentum over winter break and then just when I felt like we were getting into a groove, we all got sick. It’s not entirely detrimental, except that he’s a much harder kid to handle if his sensory system isn’t in tip top shape. And as a parent, it’s harder to remember why he’s being extra moody, energetic and non-compliant and cut him some slack. But also, I can’t take you outside to ride your bike when I can barely get off the couch, so cut me some slack, man!
CURRENTLY…
LISTENING TO
I just started listening to a podcast called Unruffled by Janet Landsbury. I’m only a few episodes in, but it’s come highly recommended by a friend. I like her positive discipline meets no nonsense approach, and it never hurts to hear these things multiple times to make it easier to put into practice.
WATCHING
If you haven’t already finished Cheer on Netflix, I don’t even know what you’ve been doing with your life. Do I have any interest in cheerleading? Absolutely not. Did I love every single second of Cheer? Absolutely, yes. The story telling is fantastic and you really end up caring about each of these athletes in the end. I just want a recording of Jerry mat talking to play over and over when I’m having a bad day. I need him on Cameo, stat.
WEARING
It’s been super glam over here, as you can see. Astro is clearly not impressed with my selections, ha! This sherpa pullover has been in heavy rotation and I’m not mad about it. I don’t typically shop here, but I got a gift card and am very happy I found this. My color is sold out, but there still some left in other colors.
LOOKING FORWARD TO
I’m really looking forward to all of these green goals I’ve been putting into motion. I shared some tips you all helped me with, and I’ll be sharing a little more next week. It’s really important to me and I’m glad you are all receptive to it too!
PLANNING
Nothing really. Which is new for me, LOL. Winter is never a creatively rich time of year for me. I’m cold and cranky and usually someone in our family is dealing with some kind of sickness. It’s just not my favorite and I’m just trying to slog through it until the temperature goes above 50.
