Mom Win of the Week:
I have lost 10 pounds on Weight Watchers and working out more consistently. I have been hesitant to talk about doing Weight Watchers because it makes me feel like an Octengenarian, but, damn it, it works! I’ve been counting my points for about 6 weeks now and if you follow us on Instagram, you probably have seen we’ve been going to Kaia Fitness for about 3 weeks (more to come on that soon!). I feel better about myself, my clothes fit better which means I’m actually getting dressed more often so I don’t feel like such a slob all the time and I have more energy. Not exactly Mom related, but it’s a big win and I’m proud of it!
Mom Fail of the Week:
Nolan is finally getting his two year molars and has been extra cranky and whiney. Yesterday afternoon was particularly bad, even after a dose of Ibuprofen. That’s when we realized he wasn’t using his left wrist and it was a little swollen. There was no real incident (except for the million little incidents that are a normal part of our day with this daredevil boy), but he wasn’t baring any weight on it, flexing it or gripping, so we decided to play it safe and take him into the ER. I don’t know what the ER threshold is made out of, but it must be magic because as soon as we crossed it, he was 100% fine. So fine, they didn’t even do an x-ray because his bones are so small, they weren’t sure they’d even see anything anyway. Total fail. All the doctors though I was a nut job while Nolan jumped off the chair and asked if we could go get ice cream. Please tell me you’ve had to make a false alarm ER visit?
Currently….
Listening to: The Work Party podcast. It’s from the genius boss ladies at Create & Cultivate. If you like hearing how successful women run their life, you will love it!
Watching: Real Housewives of Atlanta is back and I think it’s my favorite franchise. Change my mind.
Wearing: I have been living in these slides. It’s not quite cold enough around here for boots once the afternoon hits, but it’s too cold for Birks in the morning. I randomly found a pair at my Old Navy for $8, which makes me love them even more!
Shirt (on sale!!) // Bag // Jeans
Loving: AJ’s schedule has been the most normal it’s been in so long. Weekends are actually weekends (mostly) and it is so freaking nice to not have to have so many different schedules going at once. It’s back to craziness in January, so I’m living it up while I can. Shift work is stupid, but it’s part of the job, so I do my best to deal. (Hint: my best means limit my hissy fits to like once a month LOL!)
Update: I should know better than to open my mouth. I wrote this and the next day the Camp Fire started and all days off have been cancelled. It’s always something!
Looking forward to: A belated birthday celebration with all my best girls this weekend. Brunch and wine tasting and no kids is going to be heaven!
Thinking about… all those effected by the Camp Fire in Butte County. Butte County is a special place for both Brittany and I. We both went to Chico State and Brittany started her family and had both her boys there. It’s pure devastation there right now and it’s nowhere close to being contained. My husband will be up there helping for the immediate future and Brittany’s husband got to drive a truck load of donations up today, so that community and the loss they are experiencing has definitely been on our minds all day. We will be talking in coming days about meaningful ways you can help, if you’re interested!
