Now that the Summer Series is over and the school year is back in full swing, it seemed like a good a time as any to bring back some Friday Faves. Here’s a little peek at what life has been like lately.
Mom win of the week: Isla ate spaghetti this week. Like actually spaghetti with meat sauce, not just buttered noodles. AND, the noodles were chickpea noodles and she didn’t even notice the difference. She’s actually a fairly good eater and eats a good amount of healthy things, but she doesn’t often go out of her box. I’m trying to expand the list of meals everyone in the family will eat with no complaints so I can get off the Special Kid Dinner program and this gets us one step closer.
Mom fail of the week: It’s randomly rained twice this week. Typically rain in the forecast in September is not really anything to pay much attention to because it almost never actually happens. Welp, not this week. The first time I was prepared. The second time, not so much. It was our most chaotic morning of the week and both my kids went to school with no jackets or umbrellas.
I blame Alexa. I asked her the weather and she said “partly cloudy”. Note to other Alexa users- you have to specifically ask her if it’s going to rain. Super helpful.
Currently…
Listening to: I am a pop culture junkie, and I always love when I find my people. I’ve been listening to Kate Kennedy’s Be There In Five podcast and I love it so much. She did a whole episode on 90’s mall culture that had me cackling. Her listing off phrases from Abercrombie shirts and bygone Bath & Body scents was too good.
Watching: Bachelor in Paradise. I am off and on with The Bachelor/Bachelorette, but never miss BIP. It’s just so ridiculous you can’t help but love it.
Wearing: I love a festive top, but nothing too over the top. I found this cute tank at Target and can’t wait to bust it out! Perfect for when it’s still 90 degrees at the patch, or perfect to pair with a cardigan if it’s actually going to feel like fall. You just never know around here!
The cardigan is from last spring, but this one is similar. I’m also still looooving these Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution jeans I got back at the Nordstrom sale. They aren’t currently on sale, but I think they’re still reasonably priced and they are so comfortable. I can stay in them all day and I’m not counting down the minutes until I can get home and take them off. The waistband is so forgiving and doesn’t dig in, which is perfect if you get really bloat-y like me, say, one week every month.
Looking forward to: Turks & Caicos!! Less than a month until we’re sitting on the sand!
Planning: I think I’m on planning hiatus. At least for a week or so! We’re coming off a gigantic planning season with the Summer Series and the Brunch Party.
Meal plan: I’m back to tracking my macros, which is so much easier this second time around. I really feel like I’ve gotten the hang of it. Here’s what we ate this week for dinner.
Sheet Pan Balsamic-Herb Chicken & Vegetables with quinoa
No Bean Turkey & Sweet Potato Chili
Trader Joe’s frozen cauliflower gnocchi with sausage and covered in Rao’s marinara (That link is just for reference. Costco has a much better price!)
Spaghetti with chickpea pasta and ground turkey
