Every year, I’ve seen people on social media making incredible live wreaths. Nothing feels more Christmas-y to me than the fresh scent of pine in my house. Now that we’ve (reluctantly) made the switch to an artificial tree, I’ve added a lot of live wreaths and garlands to make up for it. I always say I’m going to make a live wreath, but forget to sign up or the dates don’t work with my calendar- you know, life. When I heard Meleya, the owner of Gather Studio & Marketplace, talking about a live wreath class at our Brunch Party, I knew it was my year to make one!
Gather has all the fun of holiday crafting without any of the set up or clean up!
Meleya hosted us and 20 others for the wreath making class. She had a wide selection of different pine, fir and spruce branches, as well as accents like berries and eucalyptus. After a brief tutorial, we got started by weaving the branches into a grapevine wreath and securing the accents down with floral wire.
It was so fun to see how everyone took the same exact materials and created 20 unique wreaths!
Serve your own refreshments for guests while you take a class!
One thing we love about Gather for holiday crafting is that you can bring your own food and drinks to serve. J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines were kind enough to send us Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay to serve while we crafted. We also served appetizers, including this Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip
Hands down, the best part of doing a class at Gather is that Meleya takes care of the set up and clean up. There’s just something about this time of year that brings out my crafty/DIY side, but the clean up really sucks the fun out of holiday crafting.
Gather offers a wide variety of classes, perfect for holiday crafting and beyond. You can make candles or bath bombs, do an acrylic pour or make wooden signs. They also offer kid’s birthday parties! I am definitely already thinking about this for Isla’s birthday next year. She is really getting into “making art” as she calls it and I think this would be such a fun, unique idea! You can find a full list of classes and the schedule here.
