WHO WE TALKED TO
Julie Griffin-Smith is a marriage and family therapist located in the Sacramento area. Her background is in ABA therapy serving children on the autism spectrum, but now as an MFT, she focuses on behavior and intervention for the whole family. The unique thing about her practice, Brick Road Family Counseling , is that she does her sessions in home. This provides her a unique perspective because she can see how the family unit functions in their own environment. We were so lucky to have her as an expert in our Okayest Moms Summer Series.
WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT
In this session we touched on many topics including
- Reasons tantrums occur
- What coping skills are and how to foster them in your child
- What to do when your child is tantruming
- Key Takeaways
- When to seek help
THINGS WE MENTIONED
A visual timer helps kids with waiting. Heather uses this one often with her kids.
Julie likes 1-2-3 Magic for discipline. Heather recently read it and found a few helpful tricks, but with any parenting book, only take the useful things that work for your family with you.
