Giving Your Valentine Rice Krispie Treats An Ombre Effect
My original thought was to make these ombre. They didn’t quite turn out that way, but you get the idea. I divided the recipe into thirds (I eyeballed it.) The first layer I left the usual color and pressed into the pan. My pan was slightly bigger than I needed, but since I was planning to cut out hearts anyway, it wasn’t that big of a deal.
Then, I did another third and dyed it pink. Next, I layered it over the bottom layer. It was easier to spread the layer when it was still warm, but easier to pack it down when it was cooler. Getting this timing just right so you don’t end up with a Rice Krispie blob (or burned fingers) was the trickiest part.
Then, repeat with the red layer. I took out the layers and used a rolling pin and parchment paper to flatten and bind the layers together. Cut out the hearts, drizzle with white candy coating and sprinkles and you’re all set!
