Are you on the hunt for a road trip activity that will keep your kids interested and happy? You’ve come to the right place. This road trip activity for kids takes a little prep work but it has been so helpful for us on long road trips.
We don’t do road trips very often because my kids are, to put it mildly, terrible road trippers. The both get car sick, they ask how many miles are left a million times, and when all else fails, they decide to argue. It’s a real good time.
Last fall, we drove to Oregon for the holidays and I was determined to not be miserable the entire time. So I came up with the best road trip activity we’ve ever done: City Goody Bags.
Basically, they got a “present” at select cities throughout our journey.
I got all of the supplies for their goody bags on Amazon, the Dollar Store, and the Target Dollar Spot. I tried to get things that they could use immediately while being strapped in their carseats. Their favorite goodies ended up being the sticky hands and the suction cup balls. Both of which they could throw at their window and make it stick, it kept them entertained for over an hour!
In each bag, I put a toy and treat. Types of toys are totally up to the taste of your kids. Mine are especially fond of noise makers: hence the whoopee cushions and Flarp. You know, all of those annoying things that I don’t usually buy so the novelty factor is high.
