I didn’t start shopping at Sephora until recently, but I already have a full blown list of Sephora beauty favorites!
I’m finding as I get older, I am more willing to buy fewer, high quality products that might be a little more expensive than a million drug store priced products that only work fairly well, and Sephora is just the spot for that. The staff is incredibly helpful at pointing my confused self in the right direction, and their return policy makes it so easy to try new things worry free.
I’ll be honest that I typically don’t buy things outside of their sales. Many of these items rarely go on sale, so I use their VIB Sale as an opportunity to stock up on my holy grail favorites that I always reach for. However, I’ll warn you that I’ve fallen in love with a few things that I will always replace them when empty, even at full price. You get what you pay for, right?
The other great thing about Sephora is that most of the products are offered in smaller travel/sample sizes. I’ve found some of my most favorite products this way, because even with that great return policy, my track record of actually returning is not great. There’s less pressure with the smaller sizes, they feel like a fun treat, and it’s always nice to have a smaller size when traveling.
And don’t sleep on the samples! When you sign up for the Sephora reward program, you earn points that work for so many kinds of samples. I’ve found some of my most favorite things this way!
Sephora beauty favorites: skin care
We are huge fans of The Ordinary line of skin care. Incredibly budget friendly, but still incredibly effective.
- 100% Plant Derived Squalane: perfect for dry skin
- The Buffet: this serum has it all and is great for the nights when you don’t have energy to think about skincare
- Caffeine Solution: great on puffy under eyes
- AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution: the best peel/mask, hands down. If you’re new to AHA/BHA, you will need to work your way up to using this a few minutes a week, but it is amazing!
- Vitamin C Suspension 23%: Vitamin C can get pricey, but I love this version. I apply it with a little hyaluronic acid and it’s perfection.
- Argireline Solution 10%: Brittany loves this for fine lines and wrinkles
OLEHENRIKSEN Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner is a newer product, but I’ve really been loving it. This brand can do no wrong for me, and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried.
I loved this Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleep Mask when I was deep in the baby/toddler phase. This would be such a great gift for a new, tired mom!
I have been a long time fan of Murad, and have used this AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser for years. Will always repurchase.
Speaking of Murad, Brittany has seen the light with this Murad Vitamin C Glycolic Brightening Serum.
OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Creme is incredible. It smooths the under eye and hydrates, which makes the concealer go on so smoothly. This is a great place to start if you think you need an eye cream but are intimidated by all the options.
Brittany has sung the praises of the Dr. Jart Cicapair Color Corrector before. Perfect if you have redness!
I have been using this IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream since December and I’m really impressed with it! I’ve also been putting it on the back of my hands because I’m now afraid of Kyle from RHOBH hands!
Sephora beauty favorites: make up
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is my absolute favorite concealer. There are so many shades, so you will always find your exact match. It applies so smoothly and never cakes. I could go on and on. Always and forever replacing this and never bothering to try a new one.
It Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50 has become my go to when I do a full face of makeup. I find it a little thick for a CC cream, but the coverage is great, plus it has SPF!
Eyeliner can be tricky. I don’t want it to smudge, but I also want it to wash off at some point. I’m also really bad at applying it, so liquid is not for me. Finding one that isn’t nuclear weapon proof, but glides well is hard. This Sephora Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner is the perfect happy medium!
I fall for Charlotte Tilbury marketing every time. The Brow Lift Refillable Triangular Eyebrow Pencil is in my cart. I was sold on how many shades there were. I cannot do an aggressive brow, but I definitely need something subtle. Fingers crossed!
Speaking of brows, Brittany loves this cult favorite Anastasia Brow Wiz.
Briogeo Scalp Revival– I could write a love letter to you. Not only is this company owned by a black woman, the products are sustainable, and they work. I get a terribly dry scalp in the winter, and when that combines with the dry shampoo build up, my head is a mess. My scalp has never felt cleaner after using this.
I loved the Scalp Revival shampoo so much, I even replaced my daily shampoo and conditioner for Briogeo produccts. The Superfoods Banana + Coconut shampoo and conditioner are my new go to’s. And don’t be afraid of the scents! I was (I’m not a huge fan of banana scent), but they are not over powering at all. I’ve looked high and low for a good quality sustainable daily shampoo and conditioner that didn’t leave my hair feeling like straw, and this is it!
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is the absolute best dry shampoo there is. I have actually been buying directly from Living Proof because they have a recycle program for the empties. But, if you are looking to fill a basket for free shipping, etc I have been known to grab a can at Sephora too because I know I will always use it.
other beauty products we love
I have never been huge on perfume. Overpowering fragrance gives me headaches, but Not a Perfume- Juliette Has A Gun is so incredibly fresh smelling and the complete opposite of overpowering. It is the minimalist of perfumes, and it is hypoallergenic making it great for anyone with allergies!
Brittany is giving the St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Water Face Mist a whirl. She’ll report back!
