I love doing kid parties. I love the planning and decorating and the figuring out theme-y favors. It’s fun for me. I have to be honest though, when Sully chose “pirates” as his 3rd birthday party theme I was not excited. It didn’t spark my creativity like other theme have in the past (like Harrison’s pizza party) but it’s what he wanted so I tried my best!
The favors were tattoos that I designed and had professionally printed. Definitely one of my favorite decor spots: giant 3 balloon above the “Jolly Roger Tattoo Parlor.”
The party was at 2pm so we had finger foods and snacks complete with a giant Captain Jake balloon. When I ordered this puppy off Amazon I didn’t look at the dimensions so imagine our surprise when we realized two of us would pass out before we got him fully inflated (haha kidding! kind of).
Dessert was cupcakes and AMAZING cookies made by my friend Melanie. She is a baker extraordinaire and really went above and beyond with these beauties. Thank you, Melanie! Check them out:
Thank goodness we had a break in the heat wave that’s been happening in Northern California and it wasn’t too intolerable being outside. We set up the drinks outside along with activities for the kids–spray bottles, bubble wands, sand box, water guns and the bounce house.
This is the first time we’ve had a bounce house because our yard is suuuuper small/drought-stricken and we were worried it wouldn’t fit but it did! Thank goodness because it was definitely a hit.
Overall, great success! The birthday boy and Harrison were so wiped from playing hard all day we had the easiest bedtime we’ve had in a lonnngggg time. Obviously, my favorite part of party days. 😉
