We love throwing a party and celebrating our best mom friends, so we decided throwing a wine exchange party would be the best way to do all of those things! Ornament exchanges and White Elephant exchanges can be fun, but we wanted everyone to leave with something they actually wanted, not just something that was funny to open, so we decided to do a wine exchange!
For our wine exchange party had each guest bring a wrapped bottle of wine. We put a $15 price limit on it because wine can really run the gamut and we wanted everyone to leave with a rough equivalent of what they brought. I think it would be really fun to do this with a $5 limit too! There are so many good choices at that price point, it would be fun to see everyone’s picks. Of course, a higher price limit would be fun too!
We held the party in the late afternoon, so we had an appetizer spread including cheese board, spinach dip, cream cheese bean dip and veggies and dip. Oh, and, of course, the best cookies ever.
We served our famous Pink Lemonade Champagne Punch. It was a crowd pleaser and it was super fun to celebrate with a festive drink!
We also had to have a photo backdrop, because is it really even a party if you don’t have pictures to prove you were there? We kept it super simple and used this photo backdrop and balloon letters to spell out “Merry AF”. #coolmoms

For the actual wine exchange part, we winged it. You’re shocked, I’m sure. 😉 We figured out who had the next birthday coming up and she was our first person to pick, then we went clockwise around our little circle. We decided each bottle could only be stolen twice. There were a few steals and it was fun to watch each new bottle be unwrapped. I have to say, our friends brought their A game with the wine selection and I think everyone walked away with a pretty good bottle of wine!
December can be such a hectic month and we know it’s no easy task for a mom to carve out time on a Sunday afternoon with all the different holiday activities happening. We were so excited to be able to get so many of our friends together on the same day, we wanted to send the home with an awesome favor so they know how much we appreciated them making time for us. Our Okayest Mom wine glasses were perfect and totally worked with our theme! We think these would make awesome gifts for your mama friends!
Other than that, we just drank, snacked and enjoyed visiting with friends without having to multitask. Brittany and I both think that the most important thing any mom can do is take time out for themselves, especially during a crazy holiday season. It’s a huge stress reliever for us to take off our mom hats and just have fun, and we wanted to give our friends that, even if for just a few hours!
Do you and your girlfriends do anything fun to celebrate the holidays? If not, we hope this inspires you to get a few of them together and throw your own wine exchange party!
