Since it’s been a while since we’ve had a Friday Favorites, this is kind of my April favorites. It’s been a weird month of more travel than we’ve done in 5 years and on top of that, AJ has been off work for about 4 weeks and still has another week to go (He really only gets one chance to take vacation time each year, so he does it in one gigantic chunk. It’s weird, I know.). It’s always, err, interesting having him home for that long of a stretch. It’s a long time, guys. LOL!
Mom win of the week: Isla lost her first tooth ever, and we really crushed the Tooth Fairy game. We asked her what she thought the Tooth Fairy was going to bring to gauge her expectations, and she said 6 quarters. That is one benefit to losing a tooth really young- she has no concept of money yet! We rode that wave for all it was worth and made her day by paying her 8 quarters. Everyone wins!
Mom fail of the week: This isn’t a fail as much as a funny story. When we were waiting in the TSA line at the San Diego Airport on our way home, Nolan ducked under the ropes and took off. My mom and AJ took off after him, but he got quite the head start since they couldn’t fit under the ropes and there were a million people behind us. He made it all the way to baggage claim before they caught up with him! Why is it that when people see a kid running, they move out of the way, but when it’s an adult they stand their ground?!? Of course, we were next to have our ID’s checked, so I was stuck standing there with Isla and a not so impressed TSA agent. This freaking kid is going to make me go on high blood pressure meds, I swear!
Currently…
Listening to: Podcasts have been my jam lately. If you’re looking for some new ones, may I suggest The Mom Hour, Asking For a Friend (Lauren Conrad’s new one, I’m still on the fence), Motherhood Sessions, The Avenue Mama and Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations (as always!).
Watching: I started Dead to Me on Netflix and I like it so far! And, of course, Game of Thrones every Sunday. The finale is going to be so bittersweet!
Wearing: You may remember my issue with the weird knees when I bought high waisted jeans from J. Crew earlier this year. Well, problem solved, because they make that same rise in shorts and they are ahhhmazing. A great price point too, and they are almost always on sale
I have also been loving this hat I got at Bayabelle Boutique. It’s currently sold out online, but there are a ton of other cute options! It may be in store if you’re local. I was there shopping for something to wear for Austin and grabbed this hat at the last minute, and I’m so glad I did! I’m trying really hard to be better about keeping my face out of the sun to avoid anymore sun damage and this hat is so lightweight and perfect! You can use code “BayabelleLovesOkayMoms” for 20% off one order too!
I’m also loving these sunglasses (and so are you guys on Instagram stories!). Cheapies all the way, because kids.
I got this backpack right before I went to Austin and I’m so in love with it! It can be worn as a backpack or as a regular purse. The opening is in the back, which is kind of a pain, but also nice to know someone can’t reach into my bag while I’m distracted with kids. It’s big enough to fit my laptop, but not big enough to lug around all the extra kid crap I seem to accumulate. It comes in a bunch of colors and is super cute, but very budget friendly!
Looking forward to: AJ going back to work 😂 Jk, jk, but his schedule will be changing soon and that will be so good for our family, so I’m definitely looking forward to that!
Planning: You may have heard, but we’ve been up to a little something. We announced the launch of our Summer Series this week and we are so excited! It’s an amazing line up of webinar experts who have so much information to share. We have been so lucky to meet so many intelligent, amazing women in this little community we’ve built and to be able to create a way to bring them all together to help everyone else has been so cool!
Meal plan: LOL, yeah, that hasn’t been happening. Maybe when we’re back to real life over here. I definitely miss the consistency of when I was tracking my macros a few weeks ago, but I just don’t have the time to devote to that right now.
